CHEMICAL SERVICES

Watercare Mining has been supplying water-treatment chemicals and services for the past 30 years. Treatment spans established processes as well as client specific requirements. Additional to the chemical supply, we supply automatic dosing and remote monitoring of various processes.

A successful result can only be achieved if a high level of service is provided by the supplier, and to this end Watercare Mining offer a choice of options ranging from a basic monthly service call to a full-time Man-On-Site, where the relevant water samples are analyzed and a report with comments and recommendations are electronically mailed to the relevant site personnel and discussed in regular meetings.

During the site visit all water-related equipment is checked and where applicable re-calibrated. Regular business reviews are held with senior personnel in which feedback on plant performance is provided, while a plan to tackle identified problem areas is formulated as part of a Continuous Improvement Process.

Cooling Water Treatment

Typical cooling systems experience water-related problems of scaling, corrosion and fouling including microbiological fouling. Watercare Mining supplies a full range of treatment chemicals, as well as automatic dosing systems, pH and ORP control systems and automatic bleedoff controllers. Remote monitoring via 3G data communication of probe-measurable entities such as TDS, pH and chlorine residuals is also possible. Side-stream filtration using sand-media filters is also available for high-solids loaded cooling systems, which can also be made fully automatic. Insurance that corrosion is controlled is achieved by the use of corrosion coupons matching the system metallurgy, that are regularly changed to measure short, medium and long term corrosion rates.

A successful result can only be achieved if a high level of service is provided by the supplier, and to this end Watercare Mining offer a choice of options ranging from a basic monthly service call to a full-time Man-On-Site, where the relevant water samples are analyzed and a report with comments and recommendations are electronically mailed to the relevant site personnel and discussed in a followup meeting. During the site visit all water-related equipment is checked and where applicable re-calibrated. When any relevant equipment is opened for inspection, it is inspected and photographed for the client and a report with recommendations is issued.

Legionella bacteriological tests are conducted on selected systems where their presence is deemed to pose a health risk. Regular Business Reviews are held with senior personnel in which feedback on plant performance is provided, while a plan to tackle identified problem areas is formulated as part of a Continuous Improvement Process (CIP process).

Boiler Water Treatment

Steam generating systems typically suffer the problems of scaling and corrosion of the pre-boiler, boiler and after-boiler components. Watercare Mining supplies a full range of treatment chemicals, as well as automatic inhibitor dosing systems to different parts of the steam-plant and automatic blowdown controllers. Slag and other deposits build up on the fireside which also reduce heat exchange. Watercare Mining are the supplier of Agram soot-blowers, which assist in alleviating this problem.

As for cooling systems, a successful result can only be achieved if a high level of service is provided by the supplier, and to this end Watercare Mining offer a choice of options ranging from a basic monthly service call to a full-time Man-On-Site, where the relevant water samples are analyzed and a report with comments and recommendations are electronically mailed to the relevant site personnel and discussed in a followup meeting. During the site visit all water-related equipment is checked and where applicable re-calibrated. When any boiler or related equipment is opened for inspection, it is inspected and photographed for the client and a report with recommendations is issued.

SOLID-LIQUID
Separation
Services

Solid-Liquid Separation Services

Surveys of existing plants are made, together with lab screening of our wide range of flocculants and coagulants to identify the suite that provides optimal performance at best cost. Advice and practical tips on the efficient management of settlers, clarifiers and thickeners are also provided through chemical, operational and maintenance best practice solutions.

Once the correct coagulant/flocculant is in use on a system, regular visits to site are made in which operational parameters (specific gravities (SGs), pH’s etc) are checked and through this the flocculant performance is evaluated. Regular settling-tests are undertaken to verify that the most efficient coagulant/flocculant is in use for that quality of feed material.

Applicable systems include, but not limited to are:

Settlers
Clarifiers
Thickeners
Sand Filtration and
Dewatering processes

Many water streams demand the disinfection of pathogenic bacteria, for example potable water plants, wastewater (sewage) streams, settler outflows, process waters, and bulk air coolers.

To this end Watercare Mining supplies a full range of disinfection chemicals including sodium and calcium hypochlorites, bromo-chloro-di-methyl hydantoin (BCDMH) tablets, potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide, together with any dosing systems (including ORPs) the products require.

Measurement of the bacteriological loading of such systems is regularly undertaken to ensure product efficacy with any non-conformances being immediately rectified and communicated to the client.

TECHNICAL
TRAINING SERVICES

Technical Training Services

For cooling and boiler water plants and thickeners/settlers where our chemicals are utilized,  training of the operators, supervisors and engineers, on aspects of the chemicals used and plant operation, are offered – free of charge. Such training is provided by our experienced Training Manager.

Value Added Services

We believe that water treatment of industrial systems need to move away from just chemical treatment. For this reason, continuous innovations include:

System oversight through continuous remote monitoring
Energy efficiency optimisation of cooling and boiler systems through condition monitoring
Environmental management of waste streams
